Dazaifu Tenmangu, located in Fukuoka Prefecture, is a shrine built on the site of the grave of Michizane, who is deified as Tenjin-sama, or the kami of scholarship.

The precinct contains two ponds, an arched bridge, a treasure house, and the cypress-bark-roof main hall which was reconstructed in 1591 and registered as an Important Cultural Property.

It is also popular as a famous plum blossom spot, where visitors can enjoy the changing natural scenery throughout the four seasons.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is dotted with many gourmet food and sweets stores along the approach. Try the popular Umegae mochi (rice cake), Mentaichazuke (hot green tea with rice cake), and Monaka (sweet bean-jam cake).

For dinner, let's eat Yobuko squid dishes in Hakata and Tenjin area. Yobuko is a town in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. Yobuko has long flourished as a good natural harbour and is known as the 'town of squid'. You can eat fresh Yobuko squid in a number of restaurants in Fukuoka. The fresh squid is clear, has a good texture and a melt-in-your-mouth sweetness, making it the most delicious squid you can eat.

Nanzoin is a temple located in Fukuoka Prefecture, serving as the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in the Shinroku Shikoku pilgrimage, one of the 88 sacred places.

Established in 1995, the Shaka Nehan-zo (Shakyamuni Nirvana Statue) stands at a colossal 41 meters in length, 11 meters in height, and weighing 300 tons, making it one of the world's largest bronze statues.

Thanks to the enthusiastic preaching of the head priest and the dedication of the local community, it is now considered one of Japan's Three Great New Shikoku Pilgrimages.

The spacious grounds offer numerous attractions, making it a spot where visitors may want to take their time exploring.

Consisting of a main hall and a Daishi hall, the temple also features the Fudo waterfall, with a drop of 7 meters, serving as a place for spiritual training.

Have lunch, buy souvenirs and spend time freely. There are many places in Fukuoka City where you can have fun even in a short time, such as shrines, large parks and shopping malls.

Nishijin Shopping Street is one of the most famous shopping streets in Fukuoka Prefecture. It is a town with a diverse population, including locals, students and families, so it is a hole in the city that is not visited by many tourists. Nishijin Shopping Street is 1.5 km long and consists of seven shopping streets with nearly 300 shops.

In the Nishijin Shopping Arcade, you can enjoy a variety of gourmet foods, including fresh vegetables, fish and other groceries, as well as many old-fashioned coffee shops and restaurants.

Have dinner at your leisure in Nagahama Yatai Street. The good thing about Nagahama Yatai Street is that you can taste Fukuoka delicacies such as ramen and yakitori all at once. Enjoy the atmosphere of a yatai stall while sipping beer or sake. And be sure to mingle with the locals. Nagahama Yatai Street is lit up at night and offers a beautiful night view.
